Our People

Wonder if we are a good fit for helping you?

Everyone is Welcome Here!

If you have never owned a home and wonder if it’s even possible, Take Me Home is here for you! While we have certain segments of individuals we target, that’s just a matter of strategy in choosing partners. We will never turn away anyone who has not owned a home yet and needs our help figuring out how to do it!

Military Veterans

Any given time, roughly 7% of the adult US population are veterans of the armed forces. We owe these heroes so much and yet a disproportionate number of them experience homelessness, service related disabilities and difficult family situations. While we can’t tackle all the elements of that challenge, Take Me Home has access to VA, state and privately funded programs that exist to help veterans secure permanent housing.

Adult Foster Children

Children age out of the US foster system when they turn 18 in most states, and in Maine they are allowed to extend care only until age 21 and upon meeting stringent criteria. Nationwide, more than 20,000 youth exit foster care and are left to fend for themselves each year.

This scenario — leaving foster care without achieving permanence — carries lifelong consequences. Youth who age out of foster care are more likely to engage in risky behaviors and more likely to experience hardships such as homelessness, joblessness, early parenthood and substance use. Our programs help these young adults plan for and achieve a future that includes permanent housing and the enduring stability that comes from that.
